A Summers Night

I started writing a poem, but then just got writers block, and instead of pushing creation, I just made with what I had. So this is basically the shortest poem you will ever read, however enjoy.

A warm mid-summer night
Adolescents swarmed inside
Voices whisper over dings and snaps
They are consumed by the picture of this night
Unaware of it’s glorious form
That’s right outside their window

Day 7: Even Angels Fall

Well I made it! Day 7 and this is the last of my week interpretation of music. The last song I have is called Even Angels Fall by Jessica Riddle.

I’m going to leave out a video with lyrics on this one so I can just simply explain what it means.

Jessica Riddle is a phenomenal artist, her singing is genuine and far from the manufactured pop music in today’s society. That’s what so great about her song Even Angels Fall. It’s about her real life experiences. “You will fly and you will fall, god knows even angels fall” those lyrics are the main premise of the song. We have drawbacks in life that we learn from. We find hope, we even find faith, sometimes we don’t know how fast people can take it away. We find true love, we lose our hearts, then we try to discover who we are. Your story is built on the mistakes you make and how you fix them, that’s what this song truely represents.

Day 6: Worry About You

One day to go. This week has been fun giving my input on several songs, but I’ll be done soon. Last but not least, the second last song I have for you is called Worry About You by the 2AM Club.

Worry About You by 2AM Club

For as long long as I can remember
It’s been December
No sun no summertime to treasure
We weren’t grown
And every time that they told us surrender
“It will be better”
We’d just go holding on till forever
To what we know

Broken lover yes I made you
Believe that I would be the one to heal you
And if you go now
Out that doorway
I won’t say you’re wrong
But you know that I’ll worry about you

For as long
Long as she can remember
She wanted better
No home no one there to protect her
All alone
And so she told me, I was her center
Nothing could tempt her
I still roamed
Just like her father left her
Oohh he left her

Broken lover yes I made you
Believe that I would be the one to heal you
And if you go now
Out that doorway
I won’t say you’re wrong
But you know that I’ll worry about you

Isn’t it bad you’ve been a good victim
You thought I was worth it you act like I would listen
And maybe you were right at one point someday
I used to watch you treat the streets like a runway
I used to write with tears on your pretty painted face
Sign language on your back from the first taste
So when he whispers in your ear and you think of me
You wish I would’ve treated you like you treated me
When you wake up from your dreams to the hallway
Sleepwalking through the streets dressed in all gray
Blinking streetlamps in the window pane
I worried from the second that I learned your name

Everything in love is light
But where was I last night
And why don’t you feel right

Broken lover yes I made you
Believe that I would be the one to heal you
And if you go now
Out that doorway
I won’t say you’re wrong
But you know that I’ll worry about you

Broken lover yes I made you
Believe that I would be the one to heal you
And if you go now
Out that doorway
I won’t say you’re wrong
But you know that I’ll worry about you

There is so much emotion Marc (the singer) puts into this song. Every lyric was sung with such emotion. He speaks of a girl out in the world he worries about. He understands he’s made past mistakes and only tries to move forward acknowledging he still cares about this girl, even if it isn’t mutual.

Day 5: Long Time Coming

This lovely song by Oliver James, is a wonderful representation of the time it takes to build a good relationship. The lyrics are based off the character he plays in What A Girl Wants, but this song can relate to anyone, so that’s why I chose it.

Everybody wants to be loved
Every once in a while
We all need someone to hold on to
Just like a helpless child
Can you whisper in my ear?
Let me know it’s alright

It’s been a long time coming down this road
And now I know what I’ve been waiting for
And like a lonely highway, I’m trying to get home
Ooh, love’s been a long time coming

You can look for a lifetime
You can love for a day
You can think you’ve got everything
But everything is nothing when you throw it away
Yeah, then you look in my eyes
And I have it all once again

It’s been a long time coming down this road
And now I know what I’ve been waiting for
Just like a lonely highway, I’m trying to get home
Ooh, love’s been a long time coming

Didn’t know I was lost till you found me, uh huh
Didn’t know I was blind but now I see

Can you whisper in my ear?
Let me know it’s alright

It’s been a long time coming down this road
And now I know what I’ve been searching for
Been down a long, long highway and now I see
Ooh, love’s been a long time

Ooh, been a long time
Love’s been a long time coming

Patience is a powerful thing. You don’t always know exactly what you’re waiting for,  it could be love, adventure, courage, honestly anything. But one day though, you’ll find someone who will help you discover what exactly it is you need.

Day 4: Breathe

Day 4: Breathe

Here I am day four, and today I have the song Breathe by Michelle Branch to share with you. Michelle is just a music icon, from a young age she was writing her own songs and performing. Her music stands out because of the strong connections she makes with her lyrics and is able to relate them back to her audience.

I’ve been driving for an hour
Just talking to the rain
You say I’ve been driving you crazy
and its keeping you away
So just give me one good reason
Tell me why I should stay
‘Cause I don’t wanna waste another moment
in saying things we never meant to say

And I Take it just a little bit
I, hold my breath and count to ten
I, I’ve been waiting for a chance to let you in

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe

Well it’s all so overrated
In not saying how you feel
So you end up watching chances fade
And wondering what’s real

And I Give you just a little time
I, Wonder if you realize
I’ve been waiting till I see it in your eyes

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe,
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe
Breathe

So I whisper in the dark,
Hoping you hear me
Do you hear me?

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe,
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
Everything is alright if i just breathe… breathe

I’ve been driving for an hour
Just talking to the rain

This song says to me that she is trying so hard to either make this relationship work or make it stop, and having a rather difficult time of it. In the chorus, I do agree that she’s kind of telling us how she’s coping. But she isn’t supposed to be with this guy for whatever reason, and really wants things to work out one way or another, but for now she’s just stuck in limbo.

For some people this will either be a song that plays on repeat in their head and for others it will be a getaway song, concealing their thoughts out of reality for a while, and enjoying a really meaningful music.

Day 3: Alive

I made it to day three, so it seems I’m accomplishing something. Today is the under appreciated song, Alive by Becki Ryan. This song speaks of a girl waiting for freedom but I find if you look past the perspective this song comes from everyone can connect with this song in more ways then one.

Alive by Becki Ryan

Stuck in a world
No longer turning
Always a girl
Waiting for something
Too many days
Walking around sleeping
Open my eyes I’m tired of dreaming

I wanna run with reckless emotion
find out if love is a size of an ocean
even if I crash down burn out
at least I’m gonna know what its like
to feel alive

Sun on my face
lots of a city
maybe in love
or just learning to be
on my two feet
I can only imagine
ill say the words
and believe it will happen

I wanna run with reckless emotion
find out if love is the size of and ocean
even if i crash down burn out
(myself)
at least I’m gonna know what its like
to feel alive

they think they know me
but how can they know me
I’m getting to know myself
I’m finally ready to be somebody
with a story to tell

I wanna run with reckless emotion
Find out if love is the size of an ocean
Even if I crash down and burn out
at least I’m gonna know what its like

I wanna feel till my heart breaks wide open
(heart breaks wide open)
I wanna blaze like a fire that’s flowing
(fire that’s growing)
even if I crash down an’ burn out
at least I’m gonna know what its like
(what its like)
to feel alive

The emotions portrayed through the lyrics in this song become very vivid as it progresses. The person just wants freedom, with all the good and the bad and things in between. As long as they get to experience what it’s like to feel the basic emotions of life; pain, love, hurt, and happiness. Sometimes we forget in our mundane live, the advantages we are given, and how appreciative we really should be for been given them.
